Wishee Washee

Mrs Gayle Spence - Kaihautū Toi Whakaari / Curriculum Leader Performing Arts —

A shout out to Year 11 Student James Paki who is playing 'Wishee Washee' in the 16th Avenue Theatre Pantomime - Aladdin!

'Wishy Washee' is a very full-of-energy character with lots of audience interaction (breaking the 4th wall). You might recognise James Paki from his high-energy role as Cedric in 'Puffs'.

"I wanted to do this show because the story of Aladdin is one of my favourites. Pantomimes have so much energy and are lots of fun to be part of. I can't wait to share it with an audience."

Last week James was awarded a Scholarship to the Wright Rohde Theatre Camp in April, he is also training hard for his Taekwondo Black Belt Grading in December, ironically in a scene in the show they are learning Karate and he gets beaten up!

"Aladdin- Straight Outta the 80s" will run from Thursday 19 - Saturday 28 January at the 16th Avenue Theatre in Tauranga
