Young Enterprise Scheme Awards

Mrs Jaki Lee - Enterprise Teacher —

Four Papamoa College Senior student groups competed in the annual Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) Awards. The businesses were very different in nature and reflected the wide interests that Business Studies students have.

The two Year 12 groups were both product based. Artemis produced gorgeous rustic coasters and tea-light candle holders from recycled shelter belt trimmings. My Training Supplements packaged a low price alternative protein powder, free of additives and preservatives, for the health conscious gym goer.

One of the Year 13 groups, IncrEdibles, put together 50 recipes covering breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. They hoped to offer newly independent youth a suite of recipes that came with a shopping, to be available through their website. In the end, their final product is a fabulous recipe book available for only $12 - limited print run (email Mrs Lee).

The final Year 13 group provided many days of barista quality coffee to both teachers and senior students. This group was the recipient of the YES Regional Award for Teamwork. Their efforts to work together, produce high quality hot drinks and not only cover the costs of their two coffee machines, but also make a profit. Congratulations Hannah Rhodes-Carlin, Zach McLachlan (CEO), Josh Marshman, Ethan Thompson (Year 12), and Katherine Speidell.
