NZSS Badminton
Our Junior Badminton boys did us proud as the first team to ever represent Pāpāmoa College at the New Zealand Secondary Schools Badminton Championships.
After a steep learning curve on Day 1, they went on to win all five of their ties and take out Group I (13th-18th place in Division 2) with a great win over Onehunga High School 4-2. Of the 30 matches played in this stage of the competition they only lost four. They ended up in 25th place in New Zealand. Such a great result for a very young team.
The team consisted of Year 10 students Ansen Bee, Priyash Gurung, Quinn Mulcahy, and Auro Bhusal. Ansen ended the week unbeaten, Priyash only lost one match and Quinn and Auro grew in confidence and skill with every match they played. I am so proud of how they conducted themselves on and off the court. Such great ambassadors for our kura.
A special thanks to the teachers and parents involved for helping in organising this event. It's surely been a trip they won't forget!
And an extra special thanks to the best Camp Mum ever, Jacki, for adopting five extras and looking after us so well.
