Mountain Bike Champs

PC Sports —

On Saturday April 15, three of our students competed in the Skoda North Island Mountain Bike Championships, a prestigious event that attracts some of the best young cyclists from across the country.

The three students who represented Papamoa College at the event were Olivia Tilby-Adams (Year 13), Alex Tilby-Adams (Year 11), and Lucas Bettridge (Year 8). These talented young athletes had been training hard for months, preparing themselves for the challenges of the rugged mountain terrain and the intense competition that lay ahead.

And their hard work paid off. Olivia Tilby-Adams, who had been in great form leading up to the event, put in a brilliant performance in the U20 Girls Cross Country race, earning herself a well-deserved silver medal. Her younger sister, Alex Tilby-Adams, also put in a superb effort in the U17 Girls Cross Country race, and was rewarded with a bronze medal for her impressive performance. Lucas Bettridge, the youngest member of the Papamoa College team, also gave it his all in the U14 Boys Cross Country race, finishing in an impressive 11th place.

The Skoda North Island Mountain Bike Championships is a highly competitive event, and the fact that these young athletes were able to perform so well against such tough competition is a testament to their skill, dedication, and hard work. It's clear that they have a bright future ahead of them in the world of mountain biking, and they have done themselves and the school proud.

We look forward to seeing what these talented young athletes will achieve in the future, both on and off the mountain bike track.
