'Be More Chill' Production

Archer Bernards Y13 —

Archer Bernards Y13 reflects on the show ....

"Being given the opportunity of directing Papamoa College's 2020 production of Be More Chill has been the biggest, most exciting project I've ever worked on.

The Performing Arts is something I've always been passionate about, and my involvement in this show is definitely one I will never forget. Never had I thought I would be given the honour to direct the most wild, vibrant and catchy musical I've heard to this day. This show was for the misfits, the odd ones out, us who have struggled to fit in whether it be in school or within our own home.

Together, we formed a family, one where we can be our weirdo selves and show the world how it doesn't matter who we are. We're weird and that's awesome, and it took some extremely inspiring and talented students to teach each other that. It really blows my mind that as an 18 year old, I would be undertaking a position that few would be given in a lifetime, and my gratefulness is immeasurable. None of this would have been possible without those involved, alongside the staff of Papamoa College.

I'm excited to see the future of not only the Performing Arts within the school, but the various other exciting events that the school decides to do. I really wanted to prove just how powerful a team of young adults can be while collaboratively working on something they're all passionate about, and I really am proud of every single member involved and how far we've come."
