Infinite: A Resounding Success and Celebration of Talent!

Robert Gilbert —

The curtain fell last night on a truly spectacular, sold-out performance of Infinite: a vibrant showcase of dance that highlighted the remarkable talent and evolving leadership of our students, supported by our dedicated staff.

This year's programme was an inspiring journey through creative expression, demonstrating a clear progression in student roles from energetic performers to innovative choreographers.

Infinite truly celebrated the growth of our students throughout their academic years:

Year 10 students primarily took to the stage as dancers in large group numbers, demonstrating their passion and foundational skills in pieces like "Lay Me Down," "Work Song," "High School Musical," and "Bachata a Lo Loco". While some, like Lauren Bartosh and Maia Philip, began to explore creative roles for "Dancing Through Life", their main contribution was through performance.

By Year 11, students continued their strong presence as dancers. Crucially, Year 11 also marked a significant step into Key Creative roles. Chichi Li and Jerry Jr Sobremonte choreographed and performed their "Hip Hop Duo," with Chichi Li also a Key Creative for "ENVY". Lucy Maule, Bela White, and Aria Findlater demonstrated their emerging leadership by creating "Hip Hop Year 11," and Mica Temple was a Key Creative for "You Can’t Stop The Beat".

Year 12 students were integral dancers, often performing in combined "Year 11/12 Dance" pieces such as "We Go Together," "La la land," "Blick Blick," and "Burlesque". Emily Thompson and LJ Bagsican were also featured in performances like "Pathways" and "First Glance," showcasing individual talent.

Year 13 students showcased the culmination of their development, taking on extensive leadership and creative responsibilities. They were the primary Key Creatives for a wide array of performances, choreographing for their peers and themselves. Notable contributions included Kayleigh Wheeler's "Rush" and "You Can’t Stop The Beat"; Lucy Thomson's "Growth"; Reka Harvey's "Desire," "Bath Time," and "Framing Moments"; Kytarni-Lee Macann's involvement in "Desire," "Untold," "Somebody That I Used To Know," "First Glance," and "Waiora"; and Aishani Bhatnagar's "Desire," "Untold," "Bath Time," "Waiora," and "Smooth Criminal". Lucy McCabe, Jemma Dalzell, Olivia Painter, Ashleigh Peters, and Georgia Swale also took on significant creative leadership for multiple pieces. Beyond choreography, Year 13 students were also prominent dancers in pieces like "Rush," "Somebody That I Used To Know," "People," "Black & Gold," and "Smooth Criminal".

The success of Infinite would not be possible without the unwavering commitment and expertise of our staff. They provided crucial creative direction, technical support, and logistical organisation throughout both acts of the programme.

Key Creatives such as Alys Webster, Hayley Pera-Maurangi, Annie McMiken, Fleur De Thier, and Donna Frost consistently provided foundational guidance across all year levels, shaping performances like "Lay Me Down," "Cotton Eye Joe," "High School Musical," "You Say," "Black & Gold," "Burlesque," and "Bachata a Lo Loco".

Beyond the stage, our support staff, including Daniel Scowcroft, Leigh Wilson, Lorne Joblin, Michael Smith, Jay Grubb, worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event happen.

The essential Technical Support team comprised Aska Ueda (Lighting), Toby McKee (Streaming), Wylie Armstrong (Photography), and Aime McAlister (Runner), ensuring a seamless and visually stunning production.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all students and immense gratitude to our incredible staff for another unforgettable "Infinite" showcase!
