Farewell and best wishes
At this time of year we have needed to say goodbye to a number of staff who will be leaving us.
Hayley Brice-Nicolson, David Chang, Tony Clark, Sarah Deacon, Sophie Harris, Deborah Lavill, Claire Miller, Amy Rickman, Sheree Rosewarne, Tim Smith, Georgie Todd, Lydia-Mae Wilson. Their contribution to Papanui High School has made a lasting impact, and they will be greatly missed.
Three long term members are also leaving us this year
Ian Thorpe started teaching Itinerant Woodwind at Papanui High School in 1993. He became Musical Director of our Concert Band in 2015. He has led the school to multiple music awards over his 31 years with us reaching ‘legend’ status among his many students. We wish him well with his retirement.
Lynette Archer is leaving after 23 years. (Food/Textiles Technology/Deputy Principal). Lynette has been a cornerstone of Papanui High School, dedicating many years of her career to ensuring excellence in curriculum development, professional learning, and staff leadership. Lynette's contributions extend far beyond her professional skills - her mentorship, compassion, and unwavering commitment to our students and staff have left an indelible mark on our school community.
Lynette has accepted the role of Deputy Principal at Christchurch Girls' High School, and we wish her every success as she embarks on this exciting new chapter of her career.
Finally, it is with both gratitude and sadness that we farewell Graham Hall, who, after an incredible 44 years of dedicated service to Papanui High School, is retiring. Graham has been a pillar of our community, spending the majority of his career as a highly respected and beloved Science teacher. In recent years, he has taken on the vital role of Principal’s Nominee, overseeing all of our examinations and ensuring the smooth running of our NZQA Qualifications. His commitment, professionalism, and passion for education have made an indelible mark on generations of students and staff alike. Graham leaves Papanui High School as a well-loved and respected educator who always gave his all.
We wish them all the best, and thank them for the many years of service they have provided to our school.
