Papanui High School Fights Hunger with Cans of Kindness!
We proudly donated over 1,800 cans of food to the Christchurch City Mission, helping to fill the shelves of the local food bank. That’s a lot of cans—and we’re grateful for every single one!
At Papanui High, we're hungry—but not just for knowledge! When it came to helping those in need, we canned it. We proudly donated over 1,800 cans of food to the Christchurch City Mission, helping to fill the shelves of the local food bank. That’s a lot of cans—and we’re grateful for every single one!
Our “Cans for a Cause” drive was a "soup-er" success! Students and staff really ketchup to the challenge, donating everything from "pasta"-tively generous cans to "cheddar" collections. The generosity flowed faster than syrup on pancakes!
Each can was packed with love, and together, we proved that kindness is the "cheesiest" way to make a difference. We can't wait to "sauce" it up again next year!
Thanks, Papanui High School, for showing that when we "meat" challenges together, we can always cheese the day!
Congratulations to Kōtare Tira for winning the challenge with the most items donated!

A MESSAGE FROM THE CHRISTCHURCH CITY MISSION:Thank you again for the awesome collection that your students have completed for the Christchurch City Mission! We're pleased to announce that your total weight is 840KG, which is an absolutely massive effort. Please pass along our heartfelt thanks from the team here. Especially with the cost of living crisis at the moment we've seen a downwards trend of donations, so what you've given makes a bigger difference than usual.
Ngā mihi nui,
David
