Junior Theatresports Competition

Julia Walmsley —

During the weekend of the 23rd and 24th of November Papanui High School had two teams compete in the Annual Junior Theatresports competition.

This is hosted by Ōtautahi’s own Court Theatre and gives our rangatahi an amazing chance to shine on the stage.

Papanui Team X consisted of Arch Lyell, Kyle Papenfus, Tiari Norton-McGrath, Siradj Taleb, and Amy Scott. Papanui Team Y consisted of Lily Morrison-Clarke, Addie Pegg, Chloe Stupples, and Alexis White. This was the first time many of the students competed in a Theatre Sports competition. They improvised and created scenes that the audience could enjoy and relate to. All competitors should be incredibly proud of their courage, talent, and teamwork.

While neither team secured a spot in the finals, they made some brilliant scenes, had a lot of laughs, and formed friendships with other talented performers across the city. We look forward to seeing these junior teams grow into their strengths of teamwork, quick-thinking, and comedy as they take to the stage again next year. Keep an eye out for them!
