Culinary Success

Julia Walmsley —

Congratulations: Emma Beswick and Brodie Lidgett

Following their win in the regional heats in July, Emma Beswick and Brodie Lidgett, travelled this week to Auckland to compete in the finals of the National Secondary Schools’ Culinary Challenge against eight other schools.

Papanui High School was the only school competing where the team wasn't coached by a chef or ex chef.

For the competition they replicated their regional heat winning Parsnip Wellington.  For their main they had to use a Supreme Cut of chicken and have at least three vegetables. They created a cranberry, walnut, and sage stuffed chicken breast.

They plated 4 Entrees and 4 Mains in 1 1/2 hours and were placed 4th in the country overall.

Thanks to staff members Lisa Drace, Jennifer Brown, and Judy Coleman for their support.
