Outstanding Academic Excellence

Papanui High School —

The Ministry of Education, in association with Ardour Charitable Trust, acknowledged the academic excellence of students from diverse ethnic backgrounds in Christchurch who performed highly in their NCEA studies in 2023.

At a glittering awards ceremony held earlier this week, Maggie Peng and Dorothy Yek, were among the top academic students in Christchurch to receive the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award. The diverse communities represented at the ceremony included migrants, former refugees, long-term settlers, and those born in New Zealand who identify their ethnicity as African, Asian, Continental European, Latin American and Middle Eastern.

In 2023, Maggie gained NCEA Level 2 with Excellence. She successfully completed 117 Level 2 credits, 90 at Excellence, and 19 at Merit.

Dorothy also completed NCEA Level 2 with Excellence. Of her 111 Level 2 credits, 89 were at Excellence, and 18 at Merit.

We congratulate Maggie and Dorothy for their achievements, and for being fine role models and ambassadors for Papanui High School.
