Junior Tūhono Kapa Haka Festival 2024

Robert Gilbert —

For the first time, our junior kapa haka group, Te Whānau o Te Whatukura o Papanui, proudly represented our school at the prestigious Tūhono Kapa Haka Festival held at the Christchurch Town Hall.

The atmosphere was electric as schools from across the region gathered to celebrate and showcase the richness of Māori performing arts.

Our group performed with passion, precision, and pride, achieving outstanding results:
🏆 1st Place – Waiata-a-ringa
🏅 2nd Equal – Haka
🌟 2nd Equal Overall

These results are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our talented students and the expert guidance of their kaiako, Matua Te Haere. Their performances were not only technically brilliant but also deeply moving, embodying the spirit of mana and aroha that defines kapa haka.

Congratulations to all the students involved. You have made your school and community incredibly proud!

Ngā mihi nui to our whānau and supporters who have journeyed with us throughout this kapa haka season. Your encouragement and presence have been invaluable.

We look forward to continuing this legacy of excellence in the years to come.
