Cultural Day

Jo Harris —

On Thursday 15th April we are celebrating our Cultural Day at school. We encourage the children to wear clothes that show their culture – it may be traditional clothes, clothes that are the colours of their flag, or something to show where their family comes from.

The children in our school identify with around 25 different cultures. We have been learning about each others' culture this term and our Cultural Day is a chance to celebrate this diversity.

The children will visit the other classes in the school in the middle part of our learning day and parents and whānau are invited for the afternoon programme.  The timetable for the afternoon will be as follows:

1.10pm - Parade of cultural dress (on the court, if wet it will be in the hall)

1.40-2.30pm - whānau are invited to visit their children's classrooms and the other Pods as well.

2.30pm - Kapahaka will perform on the front verandah (if wet, in the hall for whānau only).
