Matariki in the Zone 2021 – Saturday 17 July

Avebury House, Avon-Otakaro Network and Richmond Community Garden are pleased to host "Matariki in the Zone".

When: Saturday 17 July

Time: 2.30-7.30pm

What: Set aside Saturday 17 July for one of our favourite events – Matariki in the Zone!

We begin at the playground at 2.30pm with live music from the Natural Magic Pirates, and up at Richmond Community Garden activities for kids of all ages, including carving, weaving, planting, kites, marshmallow-toasting and the mud kitchen! The library's story bus will be there too, plus seed bombs, harvest produce and preserves; not forgetting soups and fried bread! For warm drinks, Coffee Skills and the Avebury team have you covered.

As the sun starts to drop and the hāngi lifts, we will have performances from dance troupe Star Jam and Ōrua Paeroa Kapa Haka. As the hāngi feast is shared around, Lisa Tui and co lead us into an evening vibe. The beautiful lighting display from Light Site will come up as the sun goes down, and we go out with a starburst, beginning at 7pm with fire-spinners, followed by the brilliant Lights on Bikes!
