SCHOOL TRUSTEE ELECTIONS

Paul Kingston —

The election date has been set for 7 September 2022. Being a Trustee is a great example of how everyday Kiwis contribute positively to their community - this helps create a healthy and caring society.

It is a great opportunity to participate and contribute to your child's education. Once elected there is free ongoing training to learn about your role and to support you as a board member.

The Board have appointed Lisa Brunel as Returning Officer for the Election. Lisa has acted as Returning Officer for the school previously and has a wealth of experience in general elections.

Watch out for upcoming communications calling for nominations.  Feel free to call in to chat to me if you'd like to know more - Paul.

These are some reflections from three current trustees;

Carolyn Brazier - It has been my pleasure to be a member of the Papanui Primary Board for six years, the last three of which I have been Board Chair. Over this time I have gained an appreciation of the inner workings of our school and education system. I have enjoyed working with and getting to know our hardworking and dedicated staff, and celebrating the character of our special little school and the wider community. I feel a sense of pride in what I have learned over my time and quite simply I am a better person for my time on the Board.

Joss Clarke - For me the positives of being on the board are being able to be closely connected to the school and understand more about the 'hows' and 'whys' of the learning that our tamariki are doing. Also feeling like you are helping make positive decisions that will hopefully leave a legacy for years to come.

Alana Cunningham - Being on the board at Papanui Primary has enabled me to contribute and support the school community that I love. It has enabled me to understand the big picture and support the kaiako in doing their fabulous work for our tamariki.
