Principal's message

Paul Kingston —

Today's newsletter is very much about what's coming up this term. On the opening screen/page we have Upcoming events. New or changed events are in bold.

COVID UPDATE

Unfortunately we have had two staff members and one student test positive for Covid in the past week.  This is a reminder that the virus is still active and we all need to remain vigilant.

We have a supply of R.A. Tests at school. If you require a box for home just pick one up from the School Office.

150th OPEN DAY 5 NOVEMBER

This is on tomorrow for past pupils, former staff, and their families to gather and celebrate the school’s 150th.

In the absence of a 'Jubilee Committee' much of the mahi has been picked up by the staff and parents.  The 4Ps (Papanui Primary Past Pupils Association) have chipped in so we are confident that the attendees will have a good time reconnecting and reminiscing with their school friends.

TERM DATES 2023

I advertised these last week BUT at a recent Tōtaranui Kahui Ako meeting a Teacher Only Day for Professional Learning was discussed for all the local schools - primary, intermediate and secondary.  The date is yet to be confirmed but it would mean that Papanui Primary would start one day earlier meaning Term 1 would start on Wednesday 1 February.  I will confirm this as soon as I can and then we'll update the website and SchoolApp.

BASKETBALL

The Papanui Panthers had a great start last week - everyone contributed to a very good team performance that resulted in a win.  Kaden Sunde was PoD for his shooting and Lucas Brown MVP for great defence.

Last night the Panthers hot form continued in a tighter game, Kaden's shooting was on target again. Emma Charlett was PoD and Xavier Jaggard MVP.
