Restarting school in Term 4

Paul Kingston —

Unfortunately Level 2 is here to stay and things don't look promising as the Delta strain is proving to be a difficult adversary. We need to remain vigilant.

At Alert Level 2 there is low risk of community transmission and it provides us with a lot more opportunities to engage and connect with others. However, there are still a number of public health requirements we all need to follow. Please do continue to monitor your health and do not send your children to school if they are not well (and please seek advice about getting a COVID test).

For us, all the required safety precautions for Alert Level 2 will be in place which include:

  • regularly cleaning of high-touch surfaces,
  • encourage frequent hand washing
  • coughing and sneezing into one's elbow
  • if children are sick or have symptoms - stay at home
  • parents using the Covid Tracer App or signing in
  • adults conducting student pick-ups and drop-offs, this should occur in an outdoor environment where face coverings must be worn, and physical distancing measures retained.

While physical distancing (for children) is not a requirement in schools, we will be doing our best to keep students from congregating in very large numbers and keeping spaces well-ventilated.

We will continue to operate the three gates

  • Main entrance ( yellow gateway) - families
  • Fraser Street - Seniors
  • Carpark entrance - Juniors

Children (under 12) are not required to wear face coverings in school.
