Principal's message

Paul Kingston —

It's been great to see the classes heading off for trips relating to our Tūrangawaewae theme. I joined Korimako at Orton Bradley Park for an exciting trip and was happy to help Penney and the Pūkeko kids get their new planter boxes ready.

We just want to say a huge thank you to the wonderful people at The Garden Box Limited in Middleton and Shirley Bunnings, who have kindly donated the soil and materials for our new garden beds along the fence in front of Pukeko.

Matariki Community Night

Originally we had planned this for Wednesday 22 June but it is now Tuesday 21 June, 4:30 - 6:30pm. The change was made so that Tania and Willie were here to support the Kapa Haka group who will be performing.

Covid update

It's been two weeks since the last Covid update. In the past two weeks there have been a total of 6 children as positive cases in Kāhu, Korimako, and Pūkeko.

Close to 50% of the children have now had Covid and are back at school.

Our cases are trending down and it's hard not to feel like it's over but we are aware that Covid is still an issue particularly in schools.

As a part of our Covid Response Plan we keep track of what is happening at school, locally and nationally.  We are aware of Christchurch schools closing or sending students home because of being unable to fully staff their schools.

150th Celebration

The school has been unable to host its public 150th Celebration.  The Board of Trustees have now give this the 'green light'.  There will be a planning meeting on Tuesday 21 June at 6:30pm in the staffroom.  We hope that a group of interested past pupils, families and staff will be able to contribute to the organisation and running of this community celebration.

Kia kaha te menemene - keep smiling
