PALS at Papanui

Maree Hewitt —

Our amazing team of PALs have been running some lunchtime ‘Landing Safely’ sessions for our tamariki.

On Monday 8th the first group to visit the hall was Pūkeko.

Landing safely is an important skill for all children to learn. Essentially, it involves absorbing force over a large surface area and over a long period. Landings occur in a wide range of contexts such as: landing from a jump or a leap (leaping over a puddle); falling over accidentally (tripping over in the playground); and landing as part of a sport-specific skill (vault in gymnastics)

On Thursday 11th, Korimako tamariki spent some lunch time learning how to land safely. Our PALs led the workshops and made sure everyone was safe and had fun while some of our team went to basketball practice.
