Principal's message

Paul Kingston —

I am entering the last five weeks of principalship at Papanui Primary, part of this time will include transitioning your new principal into the role so there is a smooth handover.

Mr Ben Galletly will be visiting the school on two days to meet the children and staff, and get to know the school a little better. In the next newsletter he will provide an article introducing himself.  I met with him earlier this week and he is very excited to be joining, and leading, the team at Papanui Primary.

Recently this event was held at Jellie Park and a number of our children participated.  Lucas, Jamie, Brodie and Josie are the children we are aware of - although there may have been more.  This is a great event where children can test themselves by swimming, cycling and running.

Back in the day, my son Sam and daughter Sophie participated.  Sam has gone on to participate in the Coast to Coast team event so who knows - Lucas, Jamie, Brodie and Josie might carry on in a a career of multisport.

The McDonalds' Duathlon is coming up in April for all of those children motivated to 'give it a go'. See the attached flyer

Cyclone Fundraiser

The school raised $500.  This will be paid into the Red Cross Fund through ASB.  Thank you all for supporting this day.

Yahoo Yipee - Ahi Tūtaha (passion projects)

In weeks 8 and 9 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 11am and 1pm, the whole school will be 'mixing things up' and having even more fun with their learning ... and teaching!

  • Week 8 - Passion projects - Children will stay with an activity for three days
  • Week 9 - Each of the three days will have a different theme - Creative Me, Active Me, and Scientific/Techie Me where the children can select from a range of activities

The Celebration of Learning will be a chance to share what the children have done.

Parents, grandparents and whānau are welcome to join in to support the activities - if you are interested contact your class teacher.

Kia kaha te menemene - keep smiling
