Teachers and children would like to say a huge thank you to the Friends of Papanui who gave us the funds to purchase 18 new Bee Bots and a new range of decodable readers. All of your fundraising efforts and support of the school is extremely appreciated. The children have really enjoyed getting to use the Bee Bots in class. Bee Bot supports children learning to code and they can remember up to 40 commands. The children also practise counting, sequencing, computational thinking, problem solving, estimating, directionality and vocabulary. These are all some pretty amazing 21st century skills that all our students need. Read on to hear what some of the children thought about our new robots.

Yesterday we played with the Bee Bots. There was a clear button. It was cool. They also had a go button. Bee Bots are quite noisy and they look like little bees.  We put a counter on the mat and we programmed the Bee Bots to move.Thank you for the Bee Bots. By Cooper

The other day we played with the Bee Bots, they are amazing! There are Blu Bots and Bee Bots. They can go forwards and backwards and sideways. Also, they don’t have batteries, you charge them.
