NO U TURNS

Paul Kingston —

Please help us keep children safe at drop-off and pick-up times. The school has been contacted by concerned parents who have noticed that people continue to make U turns close to the crossing on Winters Road and are even going up on the footpath.

The road code states;

Making a U-turn
You are normally allowed to make U-turns, as long as the road is clear in both directions and it is safe to do so.

Therefore it is NOT SAFE to attempt a U-turn with the increased traffic flow and with the number of children and adults about.

Please DO NOT U-TURN when children are arriving or exiting school or when the traffic flow is heavy.

If this continues to be a problem licence plates will be passed on the NZ Police.

When a U turn is needed, our suggestion is to drive past the school and do your turn at Wiremu Street. Please also pass this message onto grandparents and other people who collect/drop off your children.

We'd also like all parents / whānau to USE THE CROSSING with their children.

Let's all work together to make our school zone safe for the children.
