2023 Attendance and Punctuality

Paul Kingston —

We've had a tough few years in so many ways and one of consequences has been lower attendance at school for an increasing number of children across the country. The Ministry of Education is asking schools to target improved attendance in 2023.

Pre-Covid Papanui Primary School children averaged attendance in the mid 90s%.   In 2022 the average attendance at Papanui Primary is 86% so a drop of 8-9%.  The percentages were explained in a previous newsletter.

The drop can be largely explained by

  • Covid outbreak in the school - and increased sickness
  • Staying at home when you're unwell and returning when symptom free being fully supported by parents

We are looking raise attendance and improve punctuality by making our children attendance H.E.R.O.s.  We look forward to your support.
