Communication in 2021

Paul Kingston —

We have introduced some new elements to improve communication in 2021 for our families and whanau.

These have been made to improve communication. It is important to remember that communication has two modes - productive and receptive e.g. when a newsletter is written it needs to be read.

The Hail website and the SchoolApp should make communication better and easier for parents to connect with, and to read. It also brings us in line with Casebrook Intermediate and other schools in the area.

As with any technology we expect there will be a few ‘bugs’ as we are all learning together.

Newsletter

The newsletter will be fortnightly and available to read on the website. We will notify when it is published through a SchooApp Alert.

Website

The calendar will be a feature that we will regularly update. Another great feature on the website is the ability to translate the newsletter to a range of languages.  The work on the website is continuing and staff are building their confidence and capability.

SchoolApp

This allows you to notify the school of absences online, receive instant alerts and check the school calendar for upcoming events. It also allows you to check school notices and contact details, and gives quick access to the website. It also allows the school to send out reminders. We now have 187 SchoolApp followers - tino pai! - very well done!

Seesaw

We will continue to use this to share learning with families. Log in details will be shared very soon.

Emails

This is our preferred method for parents to communicate directly with their child’s teacher (rather than messaging on Seesaw).

Texts

Whole school texts will be for Emergencies only.
