Nau mai Haere mai, Papanui Primary whānau

Kia ora everybody

It has been a fantastic couple of weeks at school and our kids have been engaged in so many awesome learning experiences. Last week I got to spend time with each class reading them a story which was lots of fun. It reminded me of the power of a great story and how for both adults and tamariki, reading is so beneficial and a great way for us to relax. After each story I asked the class to think about which of our school values the key characters in the story showed. It was great to be able to see our kids being able to talk about our values with so much confidence! This week I have been wandering around classes at writing time and I have been really impressed with what I have seen. Right from the new entrants in Pūkeko through to the year 5&6 kids in Kāhu, learners have been working very hard, with many impressive pieces of writing being produced.

On Tuesday night we had our first board meeting of the term. It is really great to work with a such a fantastic team who are dedicated to making sure Papanui Primary school thrives both now and into the future.

Just to remind you who they are...

This week has definitely seen a drop in temperature, so please make sure your kids are bringing a rain jacket to school and on these cold and windy days a beanie and gloves just makes things a little bit better.

We are starting to see more cases of covid within our school community so just a reminder about testing your tamariki if they are unwell. We have Rapid Antigen Tests at school for whānau to pick up, so if you need some just come into the office and ask.

Next Friday we have got our school cross country/fun run which will be a great day. Please come along to support if you can and see your tamariki in full flight!

It's Mothers day on Sunday and so I hope all the mums get spoilt with maybe their favourite breakfast or some extra big hugs! I reminded our tamariki today at school so I hope they remember to do something special!

Finally, Kia pai tō rā whakatā, have a fantastic weekend and remember to be kind to one another. See you all next week for another great week.

Ngā mihi nui
