Principal's message

Paul Kingston —

Just a couple of updates from me this week. I am looking forward to next week and our Matariki Celebration of Learning, and our first Matariki public holiday. All of my mokopuna - grandchildren will be here in Christchurch so it'll be nice to spend that whānau time together.

Accounts and Information Update

Today your child will have an envelope in their bag with:

  1. Accounts - updated account.
  2. Information sheet - with the Board of Trustees elections coming up we need our database 100% accurate.  Please update any details that are incorrect.  If all your information is accurate please just sign and return.  Forms need to be back by Thursday 23 June regardless of changes or not.

Covid update

It's been two weeks since the last Covid update. In the past two weeks there have been a total of 5 children as positive cases in Kāhu, Korimako, and Weka.

While our current case level is low we are still requesting that Year 4-6 children wear masks inside for the following reasons;

  • We are approaching 3 months since our big surge in positive cases (see the graph).
  • Auckland schools are experiencing a 'second wave' that includes reinfections (after 3 months) so we wish to minimise the risk factor here at school.
  • 6 of our 7 staff working in the senior team have not contracted Covid yet.  If they were to contract Covid at the same time we cannot guarantee that we could operate fully because of the shortage of relievers.
  • Mask wearing is recommended by health experts

I am sure we're all experiencing 'mask fatigue' and are 'over Covid' but the virus remains active so our focus at school is minimising the spread and keeping our children and staff as well as possible.

We do appreciate your ongoing support and understanding.
