Children's University Graduation

Paul Kingston —

31 Papanui Primary tamariki and their whānau attended the ceremony at the Town Hall earlier this week.

Congratulations to all the children who participated in Te Mātāpuna Mātātahi : Children’s University this year.  It really is a team / whānau effort as parents are crucial in supporting their children throughout the year.  I'd also like to thank Mrs Miranda Sheppard for creating this opportunity within the school.

2023 - we will be offering this again so watch for the invite in a newsletter next year

Te Mātāpuna Mātātahi : Children’s University aims to raise young people’s aspirations for higher education and encourage lifelong learning. The University of Canterbury and Lincoln University are working in partnership to deliver the programme, which is the first of its kind in New Zealand.

Our tamariki are involved in the Passport to Learning for children aged 7 – 14 years. They fill the passport with hours of learning outside the school classroom by visiting learning destinations and exploring the online learning portal.

Once 30 hours of learning or volunteering are reached, students are invited to attend a graduation ceremony to celebrate their achievements.
