Athletics Day - 1 November 2022

Maree Hewitt —

What an amazing day! A big 'Thank you' to the parents and whānau for coming along and supporting our superstars.

Over the last two weeks tamariki have spent most afternoons learning so many new skills and techniques as part of the sport start rotations for juniors, and athletic events for senior students. Today we enjoyed fabulous weather to show off our skills.

A huge part of our success as teaching staff is having the support from our teaching assistants to teach the skills and their positive encouragement and willingness to help us run these events, is very much appreciated.

Another really huge part of our success is the amazing help from the Physical Activity Leaders (PALs). The equipment needed to be organised, carried, set up, and then put away was managed by this fantastic team. They gave up their own time and ensured all the teachers had exactly what was needed and managed their helpers with clear instructions, high expectations and importantly, kindness.

Over the last two weeks we have noticed the progress in the development of so many skills needed for the different events and today the children really tried their best. The smiles and pride in themselves shows the hard work is worth the effort.

Congratulations to Whānau Kahikatea  for winning the most points awarded today.
