Principal's message

Paul Kingston —

Mid-November already! The last four weeks of school is always very busy so keep up with the newsletter and alerts. Thank you to the children and parents (Friends of School & Board) and the staff who helped make the 150th Open Day very successful. We now have a lovely tree out in the front of the school that in years to come will be a lovely shady place for the kids to sit and eat lunch.

BASKETBALL

The Papanui Panthers had a tough game against Cotswold last week but hung in with some good defence.  I loved the way they didn't give up when the other team hit some shooting form.  PoDs were Lucas  and Josh. They bounced back last night against Burnside with an energetic game - had to be because there were no subs!  PoDs were Zepplin and Luke .  Thanks to Stevie (Lucas's Mum) for running the team last night.

I'll get one of the parents to snap a couple of pictures next week.

STAFFING CHANGES FOR 2023

Pamela Marshall, who has been teaching here for a number of years, will be moving to a school in Lincoln at the start of 2023.  Pamela has been a valued teacher and has been instrumental in introducing Edison Robots and Minecraft.  We wish her all the best for her new teaching adventure.

Amanda Smith will be joining Nicky Zampese in Korimako.

We have appointed two existing fixed term employees as permanent teachers - Maree Hewitt (Kāhu) and Anna Lindsay (Pūkeko).

Claire Strydom will be back in a Fixed Term teaching role.

Two teacher aides, Carolyn Leaver and Jennifer Collinswood, will be rejoining the team in 2023 as permanent staff members.

The Board's Principal Appointment process is to coming to a conclusion and there will be an announcement from the Board shortly.

COVID Update

Unfortunately there have been a few more children with Covid cases in Kāhu and Korimako. This is a reminder that the virus is still active and we all need to remain vigilant.  Some staff and children are choosing to wear masks and this is fine.  We are continuing to ventilate rooms and practise good hygiene by encouraging hand washing and sanitising.

We have a supply of R.A. Tests at school. If you require a box for home just pick one up from the School Office.
