The teachers all had a great day on Thursday with Carol Butel involved in some Maths PD. This picture is a few of us working collaboratively to make a 3D shape out of a piece of string... trickier than it looks! We are looking forward to having everyone back on Monday and there are just a few pieces of information for you all.

Absences

If your child is unwell due to COVID or required to self-isolate because they are a household contact, please can you notify us on covid@pps.school.nz.  There is an additional article in this publication which clarifies the rules at Orange setting.

We continue to request that if your child is unwell that you please keep them home.  Please notify the office via the School app through the Absentee button with your child's name and Room number. 

Masks stay the same

At Orange masks are not mandated but strongly encouraged. Despite being able to mandate masks the school has decided to seek COMMITMENT from families rather than compliance.

We will continue to manage and monitor good ventilation of all teaching spaces, please ensure that your children have warm clothing with them everyday.

At Papanui Primary we expect all

• Year 4-6 children and staff (unless exempt) to wear masks inside.  
• Parents and whānau (unless exempt) will wear a mask whenever they are on school grounds or enter a room.
  
• All visitors to the school (unless exempt) will wear a mask whenever they are on school grounds or enter a room.

We are requesting this to help keep our children and staff SAFE.  We will review mask wearing regularly - taking into consideration the trend in weekly cases both at school and in the community, and vaccination levels (they are increasing in the 5 -11year group).  

Respectful and reciprocal relationships are vital in a school, when you do talk to a teacher please wear a mask or meet outside.

Learning Conferences

These will be held in Week 2, Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd August from 2.15-6.45pm.  Please note school closes at 2.00pm on both of these days.  Bookings will open on Monday for you to book a time with your child's/children's teacher.  Please go to schoolinterviews.co,nz and make a booking using code yrszc.  

We request that you wear a mask at these meetings.

Playground and Field

Construction is underway with our neighbouring property which means our Junior playground is out of action for a couple of weeks.  It is currently fenced off to keep our children safe.  We will keep you updated on any changes with this.

Due to the heavy rain that we have had, our field will be off limits until further notice.

School Photos

School photos will be taken on Tuesday 2nd August.  We ask that everyone is wearing correct school uniform, including shoes on this day.

Board of Trustee Nominations
