FINAL NEWSLETTER

Paul Kingston —

We are very proud of the new pou with our whakatauki and four values.

Kia ora tatou katoa - hi everyone.

This is the last newsletter for the year. On behalf of the school, I’d like to wish you and your family a very happy and safe holiday. I hope you all get to enjoy lots of sun, smiles and laughter with friends and family.

For the past two years I written about the challenges we faced in those years ... and here we are again at the end of another very challenging year.  We are getting good at being resilient and kind.

Schools are busy busy places and we rely on the fine work of so many people. Firstly I would like to acknowledge and thank the staff for the tremendous job they have done supporting the children academically, socially and emotionally throughout the year.  It's never perfect but we certainly strive to do the best we can.

2022 was the  Board election year and we had three retiring Trustees - Lisa Thompson, Joss Clarke, Mike Smart and Caroyln Brazier.  On behalf of the school community I'd like to thank them for their contribution to the school.

I'd like make special mention of Carolyn Brazier, she served two terms, 6 years in total, as treasurer and then as Chair or Presiding Member, both roles are crucial to the effective running of the school.  Carolyn has been exceptional in representing the interests of the children and their families as well as being a strong advocate for the staff.  Carolyn and Tim are ending their association with the school as Lucy moves on, both Carolyn and Tim have actively supported the school over many years.  So a very big thank you from me and the school community.

The new board - Mark, Alana, Katie, Rob, Lisa and Sharon are in an exciting position as the school moves into a new phase of growth with the new principal in May 2023.

The Friends of the School (P.T.A.) under the leadership of Anita Smart have continued to support the children and the school with the all important fundraising as well as all the other activities that make Papanui Primary a great place to be. Thank you all very much.

Staff

We are saying goodbye to one teacher and one teacher aide - Pamela Marshall is off to a school in Lincoln and Carolyn Leaver is re-joining a North Canterbury school.  Thank you for all that you have done in your time here and all the best for the future

Families

There are a number of families who will be ending their association with the school as their children move on to the next level of schooling or who are simply moving on.  All the best for you and your families.

Finally, our thanks go to you, the parents, for your continued support of the school in helping it provide the best learning opportunities possible for our children.

UNIFORM

Uniform donations – if your child/children are moving on from Papanui we wish them all the best and would be grateful for any uniform donations you would like to make. Please leave them at the Office.

**** NO LUNCH ORDERS TOMORROW   ****

Kia kaha te menemene - keep smiling
