Living Springs Camp 2021

Debbie Robertson —

We all had a fabulous time enjoying great food, making new friends, supporting each other and trying new challenges.

A big thank you to our parent helpers: Alana Cunningham, Damian King, Ruth McConnachie, Stu Langsford, Jeremy McGowan, Daniel Te Raki and Veronica Fox.  Also thanks to Lynne Levick, Nicole Jones and Paul Kingston for their daily visits and support.

The children were really well prepared and they did a great job managing their responsibilities and belongings.  For many it was their first stay away from home.

'One of the best parts of camp was on the last day when we played animal survival. It was exciting running from the threats and nerve-wracking because everything was trying to get me. I was a pūkeko and they have many threats.' Elsie

'I really liked the animal survival game on the last day because we had to run away from heaps of predators. I was a native bird and they are threatened by dogs and cats.' Amelia

'I really loved doing the adventure stream. I have always wanted to walk through little streams and climb ropes and I had the opportunity to do that. I thought I wouldn't dunk myself in the pool under the bridge but I decided to do it and I was really proud to do it.' Hunter

'I liked camp because I got to spend time with my friends and working in groups. I liked playing animal survival because I we got to chase people. I was a small carnivore and had to chase all the native birds and tag them so they lost a life. It was really fun.' Mya

'One my favourite parts of camp was dunking myself in the adventure stream. I like nature more now than I used to because I felt closer to nature up there.' Eva

'My legs got jittering when I was in the dining room and saw people coming past with the food on their plates. It looked delicious and it lived up to what it looked like. The chicken pasta was my favourite meal.' Layne
