Welcome back

Paul Kingston —

School starts on Wednesday 1st February and to help, today's newsletter has a few reminders and requests. I hope you've all had a great time over the holiday period. We are looking forward to getting back into learning for 2023.

BIG DAY OUT

Wednesday 8 February 10:30am - 2pm at the pool

We need to have 15 adult supervisors in addition to staff - with some willing to be in the pool.  If you can help please email - paul.kingston@pps.school.nz

Lunch will be at 12pm and the FRIENDS of the SCHOOL will be supplying a sausage in bread in addition to the lunch the children bring.

As a safety feature the Pūkeko children will be wearing orange bathing caps so we can easily monitor our youngest children. We will also be providing them to children we think need closer monitoring - talk to your child’s teacher or email if you think your child fits this category.

We suggest all children wear RASH VESTS if they have them.

Year 3 and 4 Basketball

Miniball (amended rules and hoop height) starts on Thursday 23rd February and runs for 6 consecutive weeks at the Bishopdale YMCA.  We have been allocated space in the draw for 1 team (8 children) so in the first week back I'll be handing out notices to interested Year 3 and 4 children.

Full Bellies Charitable Trust

This volunteer group generously provide lunches to school children on Mondays and Wednesdays.  Last year they supported about 8 children at Papanui Primary.  They have offered to keep supporting the school again in 2023.

If you feel your children and whānau need a little extra tautoko or support email the school and we can make a request. principal@pps.school.nz

Tautoko or support can be given or received.  On the website there is the option to volunteer or donate.  This is a grassroots charity that get good food to the children who need it.
