Two Papanui Primary School Teams win prizes!
On Friday 24th March two Yr 5 & 6 teams (a boys team and a girls team) went to Papanui High School and competed in a Minecraft Education speed build competition alongside teams from Northcote, Redwood and Cotswold Schools.
The speed build was based on the Aotearoa New Zealand Histories Curriculum and the theme was Kupe and Te Wheke, their journey across Te Moana-nui-a-Kiwa - The Pacific Ocean - and the discovery of Aotearoa. The teams had 10 minutes to work collaboratively to create a scene from the story, then a break to discuss and plan the rest of their build, followed by a final 10 minutes of build time.
The event was planned and hosted by Technology students from Papanui High School and they did a fabulous job running the day.
The team builds were judged in three categories - most creative, best teamwork and overall winners. The boys team took the prize for the most creative build, and the girls team took out the overall winner prize.
The students who took part were an absolute credit to Papanui Primary School and really enjoyed the opportunity to participate.
