Getting kids active in the playground

Playpod

The Playpod has been up and running for a few weeks now on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The children running it are doing a fantastic job organising all the equipment and being great role models for all of the younger students. There have already been some interesting creations and it is great to see a range of students working together in such a fun and imaginative way.

Bikes

We have an enthusiastic and responsible team of bike monitors. They make sure our bikes are out most lunch times for children to use. A big part of their job is to make sure the bikes are at the correct height, helmets are tightened and they also monitor the safe use of the bikes. They are also responsible for putting the bikes away at the end of lunch break.

PALs (Physical Activity Leaders)

Nine year 6 students attended a PALs workshop last Wednesday at Roydvale School. Part of their day was learning how to set values and expectations for themselves as a group. They then had the opportunity to learn how to take a group and play some games with some adapting to space and equipment. They will be helping during lunchtimes to support and encourage physical activity in the playground and take some small games and challenges.
