The Aim - To support a cycling culture in Christchurch by producing confident, safe and responsible lifelong cycling citizens.
The programme seeks to achieve this through:
What the students learned:
I liked learning the correct rules in the games. I didn't know about putting my hand up to show I am going to stop. Some kids think that you have a right to ride on the road and be silly when they ride. Cycle safe teach you the laws and to respect the laws.
I liked biking around on the road and the instructor taught what a main road and a side road is and a side road gives way to cars that are on the main road. I didn't know how to do the signs when we are biking because my dad just said to stop when I stop and know I know to put my hand up to show I am going to stop. I found it hard concentrating on the instructor and the other children when I was riding.
We got to learn how to ride around cars and we got to ride bikes all day at school and I liked that.
I really liked cycle safety and being allowed to ride around on the road. I learned to go around some things safely.
