Parkview Year 5/6 Basketball East Zones Is A Successful One!

Liam Brolan —

Parkview entered both their basketball teams to see how well they would fare against other schools in the east of Christchurch. Turns out that all the hard training and excellent teamwork has paid off big time!

The boys team (Cobras) had some tough opposition throughout, with each game being very close. The games were only 8 minutes long and the boys dealt with adversity well, especially with a crucial moment of the game when the scoreboard decided to stop cooperating and turned off! The team should be very proud of themselves and can celebrate some very good results. The team finished 2nd in their pool, and then lost that final. A huge thank you to Jesse Thompson for coaching the team and making a special effort to get the day off work to be with us. We are appreciative of your dedication to our boys team.

Congratulations to Fergus, Xavier, Qwade, Tyler, Darius, Kieran, Jackson, Noah, Ayden, Kyrie and Alex.

The girls team played immensely well throughout the competition and raised their game for the occasion. They finished top of their pool quite comfortably to meet South New Brighton who won their pool. The final was very intense and there was some confusion about the final score. Huge props to South New Brighton who agreed that it should be a draw. Awesome to see other schools with such great sportsmanship. The end result was 4-4 which means that the girls will be able to enter the Canterbury competition. This result is a testament to the way that these girls are so supportive of each other and their awesome enthusiasm for the game. 1st equal is unreal!

Congratulations to Lacie, Jessica, Sophie, Ayla, Manaia, Layla, Kaia, Lizzy, and Jessie for being a great supporter and helper!
