Piwakawaka Art
Piwakawaka teachers were greeted with lots of excited children in their classrooms on Monday morning. Students were eager to be back with friends and back to the regular school day routines. Seeing the playground in action and the smiles on their faces said it all.
Music, Digitech and Art Interchange are just a few things that will be included in our weekly programme this term. Our art focus is linked to Maori Art and this week children were developing their artistic skills by creating their first master piece. Art rotations will include making a sun mask, drawing a kiwi, designing a taniwha and koru patterns. Koru patterns are commonly used in Maori Art as a symbol of creation based on the unfurling fern frond of the native New Zealand silver fern.
