Digital Learning

Parkview School —

At Parkview the goal is to ensure that all our learners have the opportunity to become digitally capable individuals. Our curriculum is about teaching children how to design their own digital solutions and become creators of, not just users of, digital technologies to participate in a digital society. Specific digital tools our students are exposed to are; Scratch, Makey Makey, BlueBots, Minecraft for Learning and Google email/slides/docs/sites, Mathletics and study ladder.

Junior School

Years 0-2 have access to iPads which are used in sync with the learning programmes as a way of reinforcing learning, motivating student engagement, developing digital competences and fostering digital creativity.

Year 3-4 have access to iPads and Chromebooks. iPads are used similarly to the Year 0-2's with the added advantage of more independent use. Chromebooks are incorporated into learning programmes where children are taught how to navigate and use the Google Suite.

Senior School

From Year 5-8 each student is allocated a Chromebook which stays with them at school until they graduate and move on to high school. These devices are used across the curriculum and are the preferred/main learning tool.

The attached Digital Citizen & Responsible User Agreement is attached below.

The school has invested significantly in equipment to make sure our students are safe on their devices.

  • Linewize software is installed on Chromebooks and filters web content
  • Hapara teacher dashboard tracks and monitors the web content and manages their google accounts including emails
  • N4L net security is in place to limit unfavourable websites and spam
  • All students work through a “Digital Citizenship” programme covering topics from keeping ourselves safe online to digital footprints and blogging
