'Lest We Forget' Anzac Art
With this important date in New Zealand's history falling during the school holidays, the Kotuku Team spent the past two weeks learning of its importance through Art.
Last week we used the famous poem 'In Flanders Fields' by John McCrae as a talking point for the events that took place just over 100 years ago.
We learnt about the significance of poppies and the symbolism behind them, including their inclusion in Anzac Day commemorations.
Using poppies as the focus, we learnt how to blend paint to create a colour gradient for a landscape. The poppies that we created using water balloons really stood out against the background!
