Ahurea Oa - E rere taku poi performances
This term for Ahurea Oa the Piwakawaka and Pukeko teams have been improving their poi skills.
Last year we worked on learning some basic moves, this term we have built on this by developing our poi abilities further and adding them to waiata.
We started by learning the words to E rere taku poi, meaning swing your poi. The tamariki did great at this - even though they sound a bit shy in the videos! We found it was very tricky to do two new things at once: poi and waiata.
We finished our unit by filming our performances for you - our whānau. We hope you enjoy these videos of what we have been working on!
Our tamariki are very excited to learn waiata-ā-ringa - action songs next term.
We also learnt the game pepa, kutikuti, pōhatu - paper, scissors rock. Get your tamaiti to show you this at home!
