Kererū Gets Creative
The Kererū teachers found out just how artistic their ākonga are this week through a variety of paper art activities.
With us having our first patch of rough weather since school started back, having some Artworks to create was great timing!
Room 17 created layered paper ocean scenes with sea creatures and other marine items. Tuesday afternoon was full of enthusiasm and frantic cutting as many layers were needed to create the final look!
Room 18 drew inspiration from Mr Brolan's grandmother by learning about a paper art named 'Iris folding', which involves layering paper in a spiral. This was meticulous work, but look how amazing they turned out!
Room 19 did paper weaving, first with 2 smaller pieces of paper that were woven together to create hearts, then in larger form in the shape of fish.
Room 20 created birch tree collages using layers of tissue paper in warm or cool colours.
We are all looking forward to trying the other paper art techniques 😊
