This week the Pukeko students have been learning how to create a chase game using the Scratch coding digital tool...

The steps to creating a chase game include choosing characters and a background, coding the arrow keys on the keyboard to move the chaser in the right directions and coding what is being chased to move randomly. This means the children are applying maths skills for direction references plus they are creating and debugging codes!

Next week we are learning how to code a scoring system for our games - then we will have fun playing each others creations!

Here is what our tamariki have to say about Scratch coding:

"I enjoy coding because I like thinking of the code and adding it in" Daisy (Rm 9)

"I like how Kylie is always happy to help us when we need it" Eva (Rm 9)

" I liked creating my own game" Noah C (Rm 8)

"I liked doing the coding and picking the background" Chloe (Rm 6)

"I like coding and picking the characters" Lexi (Rm 6)

"I liked how you could find out more stuff about Scratch" Ethan (Rm 5)
