Welcome back!!
Term 3 has begun
All of us here at Parkview Pārua School hope that you all had a relaxing break and were able to spend some quality time with your children and whānau. It has been so nice hearing about what everyone has been up to over their two-week break. The children have had a really settled week and have made a fantastic start to Term 3.
Yesterday, our Year 0-4 children were extremely lucky to have a BeeBot (A Bee-Bot is a programmable floor robot. Students enter instructions to move forward or backward in 15 cm steps or to turn right or left. When they press the <Go> button, the robot moves as instructed. Students can learn how the Bee-Bot works by experimenting on the floor) session with Nathan from Cyclone (our IT provider). The children were working collaboratively to code a BeeBot by giving it specific instructions. Such an awesome experience for all of our junior school children.
The Kererū team have started a new theme this week, 'Under the Sea'. They have really enjoyed getting back into their independent timetable where they have some choice about when they complete certain activities.
Our Year 7/8 students had their first Technology session of Term 3 at Mairehau High School. Food Tech, Art, Tikanga Māori and Digitech are the current classes. We welcome back Emma from the Pukeko Centre again this term. She will continue to work with our senior school students and support the implementation of their PE programme.
An excellent first week back and it has been great to hear the buzz of children laughing and playing together. Have a great weekend everyone!
