Outside school activities!🏏🥋🚴♂️
Some people in the Kōtuku team have been doing some pretty cool stuff outside of school!
Cricket: The awards were 'Batter of the Year', 'Bowler of the Year', 'Most Improved Player' and 'All rounder of the Year'. They played a game of backyard cricket and there was a sausage sizzle down at The Reserve. The sausages were free for players after the cricket game. They all sat down with their food and listened out for awards. Jamie Newitt-Isaks earned 'Most Valuable Player' he had the best stats in his team for batting, bowling and fielding.
Ryan Morgan from Kotuku earned 'Batter of the Year' and received a trophy because he practised his batting skills all season. Lincoln achieved 'Most Improved Player' for his improvement from the start. Logan Bodger from the Kereru team earned the awards for Best bowler in his team and he also got 'Most Promising Junior of The Year'.
BMX: Last Thursday Oliver came first place in a BMX race track near Pages Road . You have to be 10 to 18 years old to join, so you would imagine it would be quite a hard race to win. Oliver had to go through two hour trainings. He must have spent ages tweaking and fixing his bike to make it perfect for the race.
Karate: On Sunday Liam Hawkins did a karate grading. They did burpees and they also did Katas, which are doing certain moves in a specific order. They also did shadow sparring, which is sparring with your shadow, since they were not allowed to spar because they were only white belts. They then had to watch the senior people grade before they got their certificates. Liam graded to the rank of yellow tip.
Oliver Bunn got upgraded to orange belt for karate. He had to do katas and all the defensive techniques, it took 2 months to get ready for grading.
Well done all!
