Congratulations to the Christchurch East Year 5/6 Tournament CHAMPIONS – Parkview POWER!

Our team went into the tournament with a goal to get into the top 3 as we were up against some tough teams.  We got off to a flying start and then on a roll that never ended.  

Game 1: won against Haeta 6 v 1. Game 2: won against Waitakere 2 v 1.  Game 3: We drew against South New Brighton 1 v 1.  Game 4: won against Rawhiti 5 v 0. Game 5: won against Marshlands 2 v 0.  Game 6: won against Queenspark 7 v 2.  Game 7: won against Banks Ave 2 v 1.

The final was played between Parkview and South New Brighton.  This was an intense game which we were able to grit our teeth and win 1 v 0.

We can be very proud of our team who I believe played some of the best football at the tournament.  In each game our inter play and passing got better and better, playing football which our opposition were unable to defend.  In saying that we played extremely well as a defensive unit lead by Dylan.

Memorable moments were Elizabeth scoring the winning goal as a striker against Banks Ave. Jamie always having the knack of being in the right places coming away as our leading scorer.  Isaac being a constant threat in every game with the ball at his feet and probably our secret weapon. Leonjay’s non stop displays of running and also scored the goal of the tournament.  Lastly to Samuel who was the heart of the team and I would say the player of the tournament from any team with his crunching defense, skill, deft passing and multiple goals.
