Sustainable Coastlines in Kererū

Connie Palmer —

A group of keen Kererū students sat down with Sustainable Coastlines and Te Tuna Tāone.

On Tuesday, a group of super keen Kererū students met with Briar from Sustainable Coastlines and Jenny from Te Tuna Tāone to come up with an action plan on how we can help keep New Zealand beautiful. We have been working with Sustainable Coastlines throughout the year and have participated in a beach rubbish audit. We are now looking at what actions we could take as individuals, kura and community to help keep our beaches clean and rubbish free. Jenny from Te Tuna Tāone has joined us for this term to help us work on our actions.

On Tuesday, we looked at how rubbish was making its way to our beaches, the difference between waste water and grey water and how important our rivers are. The students brainstormed some ideas for actions that they would like to do. We will be meeting with Briar and Jenny throughout this term to work on our action plans.

Keep an eye out for updates throughout the term!
