Fibonacci numbers

Kayla Wheeler —

In room 9a for maths the students are learning about Fibonacci numbers.

Fibonacci numbers are like this...

0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 24 etc

It works by adding the two numbers behind it together to make the next number. an example would be 0, 1 you would add 0 and 1 to get the next number which is 2 and so on.

The students tried Fibonacci numbers on pine cones. They went to the reserve beside the school and each got a pine cone that the seeds hadn't opened up yet.

Then with a vivid they marked out the spiral on the pine cone. Some people got 13 spirals others 8 and others 21. Now today on the 23rd of august Miss McManus  brought in Cauliflower and pineapple so that the can try find the Fibonacci number.

Overall the students seemed to enjoy learning about Fibonacci numbers and also enjoyed eating the pineapple.
