Worms, Wheels, and Wiggly Wonders: Our Big Day Out at Bromley EcoDrop!
Today, our adventurous five-year-olds embarked on an unforgettable field trip to the Bromley EcoDrop Centre.
For many, it was their first time on a bus - a journey made even more memorable by their enthusiastic rendition of "Yellow Submarine," sung all the way there and back. The bus driver is reportedly still humming along.
Upon arrival, the children delved into the fascinating world of worms. They discovered that worms have five hearts and are hermaphrodites, meaning they possess both male and female reproductive organs. This led to some wide-eyed reactions and curious questions.
The young explorers eagerly rolled up their sleeves and dug into the soil, searching for their new wiggly friends. Their excitement was palpable as they uncovered the crucial role worms play in composting and enriching our gardens. The "Casting Magic with Worms" program, offered by the Christchurch City Council, provided hands-on learning experiences, including building simple worm farms and understanding the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling.
A heartfelt thank you to the parents who volunteered and helped make this day a success. Your support and enthusiasm are greatly appreciated. Here's to more adventures and learning experiences in the future!
