Our new Board of Trustees held their inaugural meeting last night..

Our new Board of Trustees are Tony Herring (Chair), Simon Mullinger (Vice Chair), Troy Wheeler (Property), Mike Darnell (Policy), Koral Fitzgerald (Curriculum and Review), Emma Smith (Staff Rep), Sandy McCully (Secretary) and Mr T (Principal).

An item of discussion and action was the recent behaviour of a small number of parents directed at our teachers and senior leadership. We are seriously concerned about the manner and tone these parents have used in approaching issues with our teaching professionals and will no longer tolerate these behaviours. Verbal abuse and threats are not the way we treat each other at Parkview Parua school. Our school values are based on family relationships and respect.

As a result the Board has implemented a code of conduct for our parent community. Many schools already have this policy in place and sadly we have had to now follow suit. The policy sets out expectations for the way in which parents communicate with our professionals and makes it clear what behaviours will not be tolerated. Essentially those who cannot treat our team with respect will be called to a Board meeting, receive a letter of breach from the Board, and in extreme cases be trespassed for our school grounds.

We trust this never occurs however we need to ensure our school is a safe and caring place for all. The policy is attached for your perusal. We know we can count on your support.
